Garrett's Bike Parade

So, I have a confession to make. I have a son who has inherited one of my less desirable traits. He is STUBBORN. Now, in most families, the younger siblings learn and accomplish things at a faster pace than their older siblings. I hear this might be due to the fact that they want to be just like them. Well, I have a 6 year old that could care less. I hate to admit that he just barely learned to ride a two wheeler. Yes, I begged, bribed, teased, yelled and anything else I could think of to get him on that bike. He didn't care. He had a scooter and in his world, that's all one needed to get around. Two weeks before the bike parade he decided he was ready and within half an hour he was wobbling around our cul-de-sac. Then... he was done. So the bike parade comes up and he wants to take his bike. I am about to try and convince him to take his scooter but I kept quiet and that morning I take him and his bike to school.
This is when..20 minutes before the parade begins, he informs me that his bike is suppose to be decorated! So, I run to the store and get some flags and balloons and run back to put them on his bike.

He was SO excited and after a wobbly start he was off and running. Next goal, to get him further than the lift line at Park City Mountain!

Memorial Weekend

Sunday we went up to Brigham City to visit graves on Jared's side of the family. Jared's parents have only been home a few short days and it was nice to see them again. Jared's grandma died while they were still on their mission and this was the first time they saw her grave. Crew loves the cemetery. He kept trying to take the balloons and pinwheels off of every ones graves. Yep, you know what I did the whole time.

A.W.A

Africa Wins Again...

Or so we thought, when we received an email from Jareds parents telling us that they were going to go ahead and extend their mission in the Congo. Thank goodness it was a joke. We were so relieved to see that their flight had actually landed in Utah.
Jared planed his flight home from AZ so that he would be in the airport at the same time. He watched them get off their plane and still holds bragging rites to the fact that he was the last to see them go and the first to see them come home. They had quite a gathering as they were much missed. Afterwards, we went to Crown Burger and ate some fabulous greasy food.

Kade's 4th grade program

Kade had his last program at Old Mill Elementary. He will start his 5th grade year at the Intermediate School, which is the old Jr. High. His program this year was on Utah. They sang some really cute songs and they were all suppose to dress up as mountain men or Indians.

This was the first time ever that he wore any type of shirt other than a t-shirt. He looked so handsome. I even talked him into wearing my old Doc Martens. He complained the entire time about how "heavy" they were. Hmmm, all this time I thought they were light.

Then they surprised us all by taking us out on the floor and teaching us the "Boot Scootin' Boogie". I must say, for being the Xenon, Rave girl that I am, I did a pretty dang good job!

Phoenix Zoo

Another stop during our Spring Break Vacation was the Phoenix Zoo. The boys love to go to the zoo here but the trick is to leave really early in the morning otherwise you are sweating bullets before you get through the gate.

They have the coolest bridge that you have to cross to get to the entrance. The water is full of turtles. I think we could just stay there all day and then go home and the boys would be fine.

They had a monkey exhibit where you could walk right in and interact with them. Tag was getting some great shots with his cell phone and the monkey kept getting closer to him. The lady had to stop him because she said the monkeys have been know to steal cell phones and throw them into the water.
We ended our day at the splash pool. The older boys were to "cool" to play and Garrett couldn't decide which side of the fence he was on. Crew had a blast.

It Looks Like A Bat...

For some reason, Jared thinks that golfing will mess up your swing. Your bat swing that is. My boys have never really experienced the joy of real golfing. As fate would have it they would probably strike out at their next game and I would hear about it for years. I for one, would much rather ride in the golf cart drinking an ice cold Pepsi and watch others try to hit a tiny ball into an even tinier hole miles down the course. But, one thing we all love to do is play miniature golf. Once the boys realize that you don't hit the ball like a baseball, they do rather well.

Squaw Peak Resort

The first resort we stayed at was Squaw Peak. We have stayed here before and we love the fact that it has two rooms. They have a lazy river and a waterslide. They also have miniature golf. The first night there Tag and Kade shared the couch bed downstairs. Tag was complaining about the side he was sleeping on for some reason and made Kade trade with him. Well, about 2 in the morning I hear Tag call out my name. I run downstairs and Tag is standing in the middle of the room with PUKE all over him! Kade is in the bathroom and there is puke all over the floor and all over the sheets. So, what do I do? I start laughing hysterically. Tag is in tears and I am telling him it's his own fault for trading sides with Kade. Kade had to climb over him in the dark to try and get out of the bed. Well, I roll up the sheets and throw them outside in the bushes to be delt with in the morning. I get Kade settled down and go back upstairs willing myself and my family to NOT get sick. Thank goodness none of us did and Kade was just fine the next day.
